Ep. 18: Sworkit with Ben Young

I first learned about Ben and Greg after they appeared on Season 7 of Shark Tank.

They are the co-founders of the company Nexercise and the health and fitness app Sworkit.

The goal of Sworkit is to help reduce the friction people face when exercising. They found that other workout programs and apps were very rigid by either being too time consuming or limited in their exercise selection. They wanted to provide a solution.

In this episode we talk about Ben's habits and mindset around exercise and nutrition, the origin story of Sworkit and what happened after they appeared on Shark Tank.

Ep. 17: Anne Mauney, MPH, RD of fANNEtastic Food

Anne believes that eating does not and should not be a stressful experience.

After becoming a dietician and working with clients she found that the conventional approach she was taught in school of creating meal plans and counting calories was not getting her clients the results they wanted. She noticed that when people have a strict all or nothing diet approach it may work in the short run, but it is not sustainable in the long-term.

Since learning about the intuitive and mindful approach to eating she now works with clients to help break the diet cycle to shift her clients mindset to a more sustainable approach that gets lasting results.

In this episode we take a deep dive into the psychology behind the intuitive and mindful eating approach, as well as how this approach can fit into your lifestyle if performance is your goal.

Ep. 16: Why Food Works with Sarah Waybright

Sarah is a Registered Dietitian. She named her blog Why Food Works because she believes that when you know the why behind what you are doing the what and the how has a solid foundation with which to build on.

I agree with her that there is no one size fits all approach to nutrition. Her goal as a dietitian and health coach is to find the right combination of foods, structure, timing and habits that will actually fit into her client's life. She encourages her clients to do try their best for the situation that they are in but will accept good because it's better than nothing.

In addition to talking about nutrition, we talk about her long-term goal of running a farm and her current project of creating an energy bar database.
